Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: s Wind Stength: 10/14 kts Surf / Sea State: slight Air Temperature: 14 Sea Temperature: 10 Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 20.8 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 17 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Funny day of not being quite sure what to do !!! My original plan was to go
to Levington for breakfast in the van then sail to Ipswich but the wind
seemed very light so left my gear at home. Then at Levington the wind filled
in to 15kts making me wish I'd taken my gear,so we returned home, got the
trailer and went to the Dip by midday. Here the wind was teasing you with
anything between 8 and 16 kts making kit choice a nightmare !!! I nearly
rigged 7.5 to try my Falcon 90 for the first time but glad I did'nt as I
was under with 8.5 on the carve. So after one run I was back on the beach
changing to 9.4 on the raceboard and went out with Andy Mexome on his new
starboard raceboard with a Tushingham xr 9.5 a great combination and he
easily beat me on all points of sailing in the light winds!!! With one of
my harness lines just about to break I had to return to the beach to change
just as the win filled in a little so I downhauled and took the 9.4 out on
the carve and had a good hour beating up past the pier and had a good reach
back into Bawdsey bay.So a funny day with some people struggling to get
going while others on longboards and formula gear managed to have an ok
sail !!!
